Re: What leftist books or articles have you read?
Marx & Engels: (work in progress) Das Kapital, volume 1
Lenin: What is to be Done, some chapters from the state and the revolution
Trotsky: Permanent revolution (and My Life)
Kolontai: Articles concerning the Soviet education
Bukharin: ABC of Communism (work in progress)
That's all I can think of right now. I pretty much read the most essential works concerning the communist movement and the revolution and what I consider essential (or find interesting).

I really really really really envy all of you comrade!!! I only read part of Tan Malaka's Materialism, Dialectic and Logic, which means I risked my freedom to read the torn pages of his writings.
Prohibited in Indonesia, even for academic discussion or even bedtime stories. I also read Sub Marcos(EZLN) communiques because some one e-mail it to me. Off course we do that activities on public IP, so the government can't track us.

Re: What leftist books or articles have you read?
Marx/Engels: Capital Vol. 1(Studying now), Critique of the Gotha Program, Socialism:Utopian and Scientific, The Communist Manifesto, Anti-Dühring, Wage, Labor, and Capital, and I'm trying to get my hands on Grundisse, Origin of the Family, The German Ideology, Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844, The Poverty of Philosophy, and The Civil War in France. I've also just read random articles and essays written by them at the Marxist Internet Archive.
Lenin: Parts of What is to be Done, The State and Revolution, The April Theses, and I really want to read Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism.
Trotsky: The History of the Russian Revolution(If Maksim is interested in the history of communist movements check this one out) and I want to read the Transitional Programme. I've also read a few random writings by him on the MIA.

Re: What leftist books or articles have you read?
I have read countless "leftist" books, part for study part for my interest.
The "Classics" of leftist tought are already mentioned, but I want to suggest to you the work of Alfredo Maria Bonanno, an italian anarchist. I suggest his books between other good pages because he is not only a fine intellectual, but a real lighthouse for the struggle of anarchists and radical left people.
He was imprisoned for 18 months by the italian governament only for an essay, Armed Joy, one of his "classics". Because the tought is worse than a bomb for the Power.
He was again sentenced to 6 years in 2003, with the charge of be the ideological "inspirer" of an eversive group ( with no link with Bonanno).
And four days ago he was arrested with a greek anarchist in Greece on suspicion of having carried out an armed robbery in a local bank.
He is oppressed everywhere by the State for the power of his ideas.
Part of his books are available on the net fo free.
P.S.: Kim Jong Il? I don't really think that in North Korea there is communism, or other than masked fascism.
P.S.S: Pharaon on I consider you a very brave guy. Spasibo tovarich!!!!!

Re: What leftist books or articles have you read?
i think that chomsky is a bright example of a good leftist theoretician of our time. hes not marx, but thats probably because a big part of the work, its foundations, have already been laid down by others.

Re: What leftist books or articles have you read?
I did listen to Das Kapital and i have read the Commie manifesto. I just finished reading My Disillusionment in Russia by Goldman, I probably will not be able to read any Lenin or Trotsky for a while after reading that book. I did just find the "Communist" section of my Universities library so i think i need to start studying.
