I just joined them this week and already they published my Ukrainian language translation of their statement on main page, and asking me to write an article on situation in Ukraine. I will do it in a few days.

Do you believe in their ability to resurrect the movement?

Here's the list of parties, who agreed to participate according to Venezuelan Communist Party -

What I've gathered from these types of organisations is that they're fragile and sectarian. There were some guys recruiting on youtube last year for the 4th international, spreading messages such as "we have departments in over 40 countries already!". The only reason why there is no international solidarity is because they disagree with each other, this isn't something we're looking for, we're looking for a broad marxist international.

IMO, 4th International should've dropped anti-SU rhetorics after collapse of SU. This way they could've united with those communist parties who still follow Stalinist tradition, and rehabilitate trotskyism in the countries of these parties. Anyway, there's only so few old-school stalinists left, most of modern commparties of ex-Warsaw pact countries are bunch of bourgeoise nationalists, while those poor stalinists-maoists hang around semi-legal parties. Chavez and this 5th one try to do this reunion, as they claim to be Leninist-Trotskyist, but still respect Soviet Union and Mao-Hoxha tradition.

I've been hearing a lot from Chavez, labeling himself different depending on who he speaks with. But Stalinists are still strong in today's Russia, the CPRF for one. I do agree with you that many oldschool commies have thwarted towards nationalism, but we can't blame them for it. There's a few other "international organizations" out there, the CWI and ILO. Most of them operate as NGOs or as social-democratic organizations, unfortunately.

The 5th International may very well be something new. Although the concept of "international" is getting a little bit "old". This has been stressed by comrades on revleft aswell -> something new should be invented.

Did you guys hear about the Participatory Socialist International? I read about it on Znet. It would probably be a gathering of anarchists, it is going to have people like Michael Albert and Chomsky. I don't know why they wouldnt just go to the 5th international and try to get people to be more anarchist. here is the proposal http://www.zcommunications.org/newinternational.htm
